We are shopping for a new bed! I wish I could find a bed that looked exactly like this one from The Sleep Room, unfortunately they are based in England and out of my price range. Look forward to a bed round-up later this week!

Bedroom Makeover 2011 has begun!
We finally committed to switching the rooms in our house, our "hang out" room became the bedroom, and the bedroom became the "hang out" room. The new bedroom is bigger and has a much bigger closet which is easier for sharing. :)

Step One: Pick a Paint Color

My inspiration for the paint color came from this UK paint advertisement.

Step Two:
Buy a Vintage Mid Century Dresser.

I wanted a dresser with lots of drawers and I found the perfect Johnson Carper lowboy dresser at a shop in Romeo. Mine has a mirror attached with this great geometric cutout at the top. Let me tell you, it was love at first sight.
Plus, look how cute the label is:

I'd also love to find this piece someday, so we could have a matching set.

Step Three:
Buy Matching Mid Century Nightstands. I got these at Fred's Unique Furniture in Warren. Lots of junk there, but if you are willing to search, you can find some great pieces. Craigslist has been my best friend lately, with lots of great mid century pieces posted.

Step Four: Rent a U-Haul and get the queen size mattress from Nick's parents house. Not the most glamorous step, but a very necessary one!

That's all I will reveal for now, there are more steps (including bed shopping!) to come...

Drooling over the Orla Kiely products at Heal's. The Lusk Sofa is my dream sofa. Come on Orla, open US stores!

I received a decadent set of Murchison-Hume cleaning products as a wedding gift and yesterday after purchasing a fantastic set of mid century end tables, I got to use two of the cleaning products I hadn't used yet! I know...you're thinking this crazy girl is excited about cleaning? Well, when cleaning products look this good, smell this good, are all-natural, and come from Australia, of course I'm going to be excited! With the help of "Everyday" Furniture Spritzer and the Chrome and Stainless steel cleaner, my end tables are looking good.

Murchison-Hume produces premium, organic housecleaning products that cause zero negative effect to the environment. Plus their packaging is inspired by old-fashioned apothecary bottles, which I love.

P.S. The end tables are our new nightstands. Bedroom Makeover 2011 has begun, stay tuned...

The contemporary furniture company West Elm recently re-launched their brand, and so far I'm impressed. I received the latest catalog in the mail yesterday, and overall there seems to be better product, better styling, and better prices. The brand will focus on 4 distinct decorating styles: The Modernist (my personal favorite), The Revivalist, The Naturalist, & The Globalist. My only complaint is that the interiors featured are also propped with non West Elm products, so be careful not to fall in love with something that isn't for sale! For me it was the great industrial cabinet on page 92.

My favorite products:
1. Modern Windsor Chaise
2. Industrial Metal Bath Cabinets
3. Pratt Desk
4. Cork + Ceramic Collection

If there ever were a chair made for me, it would most definitely be the "Papa Bear" chair. To my eyes, it is chair perfection! Designed in 1951 by the Danish furniture designer Hans J. Wegner, this chair is considered an iconic piece of midcentury Danish design. The chair, which also has a matching footstool, got its name after a critic commented that the armrests were like "great bear paws embracing you from behind." Wegner is regarded as the "master of the chair," with more than 500 original chair designs under his namesake. Although I have never had the opportunity to sit in one, it has been said that it is "the most comfortable chair ever made."

Loving this red couch. The only thing that would make it better is if it was my hunny laying on it, instead of this guy. :)
