I had a great summer weekend filled with bike riding, yummy ice cream from Treat Dreams, and my personal favorite: searching for treasures for the house!

First stop: The Royal Oak Flea Market

I love embroidered pictures, and I hit the jackpot this weekend. This owl has such delicate embroidery it almost looks like its drawn. Love it!

This piece had a little more wear and tear to it, but at $4 I couldn't resist. While I love all embroidery, I'm a sucker for anything nautical. 

I found this beautiful vintage Vera dishtowel for $2! I'm thinking about turning it into a pillow. 

I also found four vintage photographs for my photo wall. 

Next stop: The Rust Belt Market

I've had my eye on these vintage apothecary jars from Belgium since The Rust Belt first opened. I love the dark amber color, and the shape. They are currently living in the dining room...for now. :)

I've also been admiring these gorgeous mineral pillows from Salt Labs. I had the chance to meet the designer and was pleased to hear that her favorite pillows are the mineral pillows as well!

 I've been searching for some throw pillows for all rooms of the house, and these are so well-crafted and locally made. Make sure to check out her website, she has a great selection!

Keeping the embroidery trend going, I also picked up this gorgeous deer from Featherheart Trading Co, one of my favorite vendors at the Rust Belt. She has a great collection of vintage clothing and home accessories as well as natural body products.

I love antlers! Big or Small. Currently we have 7 sets of varying sizes in our house and every time I see them at the flea market I have to fight myself not to buy them. 

My expanding collection currently includes:

1. My largest set were a birthday gift from Nicholas a few years ago. 

2. Two white ceramic sets that I got on super sale at Urban.

3. One tabletop antler from Evolution We bought this on our honeymoon. Best store in Soho!

4. One small set from the Royal Oak Flea Market. There are several great vendors with antlers and other natural specimens and curiosities. 

5. One small set from Ugly Luggage in Brooklyn. Great small antique store in Williamsburg, also purchased on our honeymoon. 

6. One wonderfully amazing jackalope that Nicholas got as a child that recently made his way to our dining room.

While searching for images of vintage scarves, I ran across John and Linda Meyers home. They have a vintage Hermes scarf framed above a couch in their Portland home, shown in the first image. Their house is pretty fabulous!

Turns out this couple are both artists and designers who own Wary Meyers Decorative Arts. They also have a book called "Wary Meyers Tossed and Found."

I'm in love with their interior works, especially their own home. Most of the materials used in their spaces are from garage sales and flea markets. This is a great New York Times article back from 2008 that explains their design mantra.

I'm greatly attracted to this decorating style, as most of my own home is furnished with vintage pieces found at antique stores, flea markets, and thrift stores. Nothing beats the thrill of searching through a pile of junk, and finding something remarkable!
