I'm a firm believer that one can never have enough books. I'm also a firm believer that books should be on display!

Love this staircase bookshelf!

What's your favorite way to display books? By color, by category, or just randomly? Standing up, or lying down? All together, or spread throughout the house?

I love vintage mugs. I have a mix-mash collection of them I've picked up at thrift stores over the years. I love all the different patterns, colors, and unique handles.

Some of my favorite mugs hanging by the kitchen window.

Every kitchen needs one.
 Plate wall!
Vintage deer & a Nikki Sass painting, that I love!
Collections are everywhere!

A peek inside the curio cabinet.
Love the utilitarian binning!

I love my friend Tim's house. He's a collector, has great taste, and a very unique way of styling things that I adore.  We bounce ideas off each other a lot and he is my go-to guy for any house project I don't know how to do! We were hanging out the other day so I took these snapshots inside his home. Enjoy!

Artist Lisa Congdon recently completed an inspirational blog, A Collection a Day, in which she photographed a real collection of her own, or drew a collection she would love to have, every day of 2010. As a collector myself, it is so interesting to see all the things Congdon loves and the ordinary objects she finds beauty in. I'm totally jealous of her Cathrineholm collection! Congdon's collections will also be featured in a book released by Uppercase this Spring.

One of the best things about owning a home for me, is the chance to move from room to room, adding extra layers to the space. I've been thinking a lot about wall art and wall colors lately and different ways to change the walls of my space.

I love the unique materials displayed on these walls. I have a small and growing collection of old photographs that I've picked up at the flea market, that I would love to display on a wall in the entryway. I love the layered look of the photograph wall. So impactful, and exactly the randomness I'm looking for.

I was also excited to find an image of the Cole & Son Woods wallpaper featured behind a bed, which is what I was thinking about doing in our bedroom.

Over the past few years I have started to build a collection of crochet blankets. Two gems found thrifting, one made for me by one of best friend's mothers, and one particularly special blanket made by my grandmother. I love having them in all rooms of the house, close by to cuddle up with. I also love the idea of grouping small crochet pieces together on a wall. I'm thinking this may be a great solution to the large empty wall in the bedroom. Better start searching!
